He continued to enhance his reputation throughout the 1980s, kidnapping Jerry Lewis in the darkly hilarious The King of Comedy (1983) and wielding a baseball bat as Al Capone in The Untouchables (1987). Other great De Niro films from that decade included Terry Gilliam's dystopian Brazil (1985), Roland Joffé's The Mission (1986) and the underrated Midnight Run (1988).
