Remember that time Dustin Hoffman beat a man to death with a fire poker and trapped another man's head in a mantrap in Straw Dogs? Well he'd sooner you forgot about that part of his career as the actor has recently taken aim at Hollywood's unrealistic portrayal of onscreen violence, especially when it comes to guns. "I have always felt passionate about the fact that the audience is identifying [with movie violence] in a very fraudulent way..." Hoffman told NPR Radio before elaborating that movies don't convey the true horror of real life violence because "a gun is rarely used in film in a way that it feels like in life. It's simplified into being a cartoon experience."
