The late, great Yul Brynner paved the way for future generations of bald badasses. No, not through his crooning as the Siamese monarch in The King & I – a role for which he first shaved his hair off in 1956.

For his iconic turn as a killer android in Michael Crichton's Westworld – a movie that shares the same 'theme park gone wrong' plot as the author's later Jurassic Park – is still regarded as a huge influence four decades on. Brynner's similarly gunslinging turn as Chris Adams in The Magnificent Seven also earned him kudos from Western fans in 1960.
