The fantasy of being the last person on Earth is a seductive one – you get to live whatever you want, drive whatever kind of car you want, eat at the finest restaurants, see the sights unimpeded by crowds … it’s all yours for the taking. Sure, you have to deal with the crushing loneliness and a growing sense that something else has risen to take humanity’s place on the evolutionary chain, but there had to be a downside eventually.
