Written by Charlie Kaufman, Spike Jonze’ debut feature casts John Cusack as Craig Schwartz, an unsuccessful puppeteer who takes a job as a filing clerk in an office that contains a portal into the mind of actor John Malkovich. Craig discovers that by entering the portal he can see through Malkovich’s eyes. Soon enough Craig’s wife Lotte (Cameron Diaz) is also using the Malkovich portal, and the actor confronts Craig, telling him to get out of his head. Charlie Sheen also plays himself in the film, playing Malkovich’s best friend.
