Bollywood box-office report of the week
This Friday's major releases include Sanjay Gupta's SHOOTOUT AT WADALA and Viacom 18's BOMBAY TALKIES. It is given that SHOOTOUT AT WADALA will appeal to the masses while the discerning audience would prefer the highly acclaimed BOMBAY TALKIES.
Last Friday's two releases, AASHIQUI 2 and the Hollywood venture, IRON MAN 3, opened to a good response. With the 3D and IMAX format of IRON MAN 3 getting good collections, the gossip mills went into overdrive claiming that Hollywood had decimated Bollywood, though their joy was short-lived! With each passing show AASHIQUI 2 went from strength-to-strength and was also rock steady during the weekdays. During the first week the T-Series and Vishesh Films' venture, AASHIQUI 2, is all set to cross the 30 crore mark and is a hit (or even higher) for sure!
Moving on, Balaji Telefilms Ltd. and Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures Pvt. EK THI DAAYAN though has disappointed in the overseas, grossing �60,000 from UK and $85,000 from the US, till the second weekend (26-28 October).

The film is decent in the overseas grossing �108,000 from UK and $ 254,000 from the US.

The movie is a political satire directed and written by National award winning filmmaker, Janaki Vishwanathan. Two Indian bands, 'Agnee' and 'Indian Ocean', came together to compose the main song of the film, which has been sung by Kannan Mohan, Koco, Amit Kilam, Rahul Ram and television show producer Raghu Ram. Raghu Ram explained that the song perfectly matched the election atmosphere as it was a satire on political parties. Kannan Mohan also explained importance of each singer in the song. Rahul Ram said that political songs should be sung with fun. The film which stars actors Anshuman Jha, Asif Basra, Suruchi Aulakh, Faiz Khan and Yoshika Verma is produced by Ramesh S Arunachalam and is slated to release on April 25.
