Prem Raj: ISHKQ IN PARIS delay troubled me
Those who are associated with ISHKQ IN PARIS have a reason to smile. Their labour of love is hitting the screens this Friday and what has worked in its favour is a fresh start that the film has managed to make. With its newer promos doing the trick and Preity Zinta yet again demonstrating the kind of effervescence that is attached to her, the film's director Prem Raj is a relieved man.
"Last few months have made me understand that filmmaking is not just making a movie but a challenge. One has to eventually come out as a winner and I am glad that this is happening now. As a human being, I feel that I have gained a lot. This movie would be special for a lot of reasons," says Prem.
Making the film has been no less than a roller coaster ride for the young filmmaker. While his father expired when the film was going through its promotional routine, he was diagnosed with cancer; post which Preity decided to put every activity on hold till he returned fit and fine.
"Unfortunately though, there was this word 'delay' that got attached to my film," sighs Prem, "That troubled me. It was not at all comforting to experience so much turmoil back then. In the hindsight, I feel that I shouldn't have been as ambitious around releasing my film. See, if you look at it this way, every filmmaker releases his in one year. However I finished it in six months and since we decided to release it soon after, it started seeming that we were delayed when we couldn't bring it to theatres due to unforeseen circumstances. Otherwise if you look at it, 14 months from initiating a film till release is not a long time."
He ends the conversation on a positive note, "I have learnt a lot in life now and my whole thinking has changed. To overcome all the troubles and now seeing the film of mine release in 3 days from now has made me stronger."
