Arjun Rampal: D DAY is not about Pakistan bashing affair
Last weekend's release BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG hasn't released in Pakistan and now today's release D-DAY may raise a few eyebrows as well.
"While the film is largely set in Pakistan (though the scenes have been actually shot in India), the basic plot is about India's Most Wanted terrorist to be brought back into India. Since there are (obvious) indirect references being made to the 'suspect in question', no one is willing to go on record around Rishi Kapoor actually playing Dawood Ibrahim," a source says.
This also makes one suspicious that in the name of patriotism, will this Nikhil Advani film end up taking a jingoistic route, a claim which a close associate of his denies.
He says, "Yes, there is patriotism for sure but then the film is not about Pakistan bashing. It just shows what is actually happening between the neighbouring countries today. It shows how there is actually a political propaganda behind this all instead of people of India and Pakistan fighting each other as enemies."
This is the reason why Arjun Rampal wanted to be fully convinced as well before picking up the part of a RAW agent who was a cold blooded assassin.
"The film is about fighting against terrorism but that doesn't qualify it as a Pakistan bashing affair. If that would have been the case then I wouldn't have done the film. Even otherwise, I truly believe that jingoism in cinema is passe. Reality is in and we are just showing what is really happening in India and Pakistan where everything is constantly being maneuvered according to select individuals' whims and fancies," says Arjun.
He goes on to add, "I have a lot of Pakistani fans and I wouldn't do anything that would cause them any hurt."
