South is the new flavor of Bollywood
Months of the year starting from July 2013 indeed would be the months when Bollywood would be soaked in the ambiance of Southern flavor in one way or the other. The one way or the other could either be in the form of locations, or in the form of actors and directors from the South making foray into the world of Hindi cinema. The Southern flavor is giving a different 'tadka' to the films that are being released into the market.
Here is a look at these Southern flavors which have the potential to rock the box office:
RAMAIYA VASTAVAIYA: It is a remake of superhit NUVVOSTANANTE NENODDANTANA that was debut making film of Prabhudheva and he is redirecting it in Hindi, and apart from re-introducing Shruti Hassan it marks debut of Girish Kumar. As the location of the film is in Punjab, it would be interesting to watch how Prabhudheva has mixed Southern flavor into Punjab land and if one goes by the item number featuring Jacqueline Fernandez, the concoction indeed is heady.
CHENNAI EXPRESS: Come August, Shahrukh Khan along with Deepika Padukone under the baton of Rohit Shetty returns in all South Indian 'tadka, rasam marke', with heavily accented Deepika's dialogue delivery that indeed is going to make its own flavor with the audience. Shahrukh Khan had shown his prowess in enacting a Southie role in his RA ONE and one could expect more action in CHENNAI EXPRESS.
MADRAS CAF: Directed by Shoojit Sarcar and starring John Abrham, MADRAS CAF is another biopic film of the sort as it is in all probability the first film that tries to present a cinematic representation of the invasion of Sri Lanka by the Indian army.
RAMBO RAJKUMAR: Another Prabhudheva directed film on which Shahid Kapoor has quite a lot of hope that it would resurrect his career.
South India as a location has had been a choice for quite a long time but the resource persons from South resurrecting the careers of stars in North, or situating the films in South for a regional flavor as the USP seems to be the emerging trend for 2013 and one only hopes that RAMAIYA VASTAVAIYA would set the benchmark for the other films to follow in its wake.
