Manish Tiwary: Never lost faith in Prateik
After an unflattering response to EKK DEEWANA THA, Prateik returns to the big screen with ISSAQ. The film is directed by Manish Tiwary who is himself returning after a hiatus. The director of critically acclaimed DIL DOSTI ETC had roped in Prateik when he was hot and rising with DHOBI GHAT, AARAKSHAN and DUM MAARO DUM in his kitty. However when his solo releases MY FRIEND PINTO and EKK DEEWANA THA bombed, one wondered whether that had turned out to be a spanner in the plans for ISSAQ.
"Personally, I was not nervous at all," says Manish, "Of course from a film's perspective, it is not a very happening thing when your lead actor's films haven't worked. Still, I never lost faith in him."
He admits not being truly impressed by each and every performance by Prateik in the aforementioned films.
"Yes, but then I went with my instincts," he says, "Also, what is most commendable is the fact that my producers never gave up on the film. We were confident about what we were shooting for the film. We were not shaken at all."
On a final note he adds, "I do feel that Prateik's movies that didn't work were not superlative either. However with ISSAQ he will make his mark."
We look forward to that once the film releases all over this Friday.
