Ekta Kapoor versus Akshay Kumar next Independence Day?
We have grown up hearing the adage that there are no permanent friends or foes in Bollywood, and the latest development once again confirms the same.
To cut a long story short, just a fortnight back, Independence Day 2013 to be precise, the Ekta Kapoor venture, starring Akshay Kumar released globally. The film in question is obviously the Milan Luthria directed, ONCE UPON AY TIME IN MUMBAI DOBAARA!
However, it now appears that Ekta Kapoor and Akshay Kumar may well be on opposite sides of the fence on Independence Day 2014.
As per reliable trade sources, Ekta Kapoor has blocked the next Independence Day (2014), for releasing her still untitled Emraan Hashmi and Kareena Kapoor venture, which she is co-producing with Karan Johar.
Incidentally scheduled to release on the same day is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next venture (after ROWDY RATHORE) with Akshay Kumar, titled GABBAR. The film is a remake of the Tamil hit, RAMANNA, and co-produced by Viacom 18.
Before we leave, our usual disclaimer; release dates can change even at the eleventh hour, and we hope for the sake of cinema that the big clash is averted and both parties get a hit via the two above mentioned ventures.
