Parineeti Chopra: Don't feel I'm competing with Priyanka at all
The bubbly and loquacious Parineeti Chopra is all geared up with SHUDDH DESI ROMANCE, in which she'll be seen opposite Sushant Singh Rajput.
Talking about the film, she says, "The film is about these three characters, who in the department of love, do whatever they want. So whether they want to live with the person, not live with the person, what kind of relationship they want with each other, they don't think about the rules of society and what is right or what is wrong. I am playing Gayatri who has had many relationships and hence takes relationships very coolly and casually. But she's not a loose character even though she drinks and smokes."
Not many know that Parineeti Chopra was into marketing before she got her first break. Ask her if the move to acting was planned and she says, "I don't think you can plan these things. My name Parineeti means destiny. I think I was destined to be an actor. I feel that I've found my calling. Acting is a lot of fun. I don't know what I was doing since so many years. At the moment I'm loving it. Who knows how long I'll live? At the moment I have only acting on my mind. If someday I get bored or acting or if I feel like doing something else, I'll do it."
Parineeti will be seen competing with her own cousin Priyanka Chopra this Friday as SHUDDH DESI ROMANCE is simultaneously releasing with ZANJEER. Ask her about the same and she says, "I don't feel like I'm competing with Priyanka Chopra at all. She's my sister and I have grown up with her in. When I was born, she was in the hospital. We used to stay in the same house. Only when the media pits us against each other, is when we realise that we are in the same profession."
She further adds, "My equation with Priyanka hasn't changed at all. We don't discuss boring things like acting or films. It's just that we don't meet that often due to our busy schedules."
It seems that Parineeeti is following her sister's path very religiously. Like Priyanka, even Parineeti wants to take up singing.
"One day I will sing for sure. Everybody in our family sings. I am a trained singer, Priyanka is not. But she's a brilliant singer. I did my Hindustani Classical music in vocal singing from Pracheen Kala Kendra in Chandigadh," says the actor on a concluding note.
