After SRK and Aamir, Rajinikanth to step into 200 cr club with KOCHADAIIYAAN?
Aamir Khan has done it. Shahrukh Khan has bettered it. Now one waits to see whether the Big Boss, Rajinikanth, manages to do that as well with his magnum opus KOCHADAIIYAAN. With 3 IDIOTS and CHENNAI EXPRESS already in the 200 crore club, all eyes are on this massively budgeted VFX laden warrior film to set the cash registered ringing again.
"Considering the fact that Rajinikanth is super exclusive when it comes to making movies, a well mounted release like KOCHADAIIYAAN would help in a major way," informs an insider, "His ENDHIRAN (ROBOT in Hindi) was a major money spinner and had managed collections to the tune of 150 crores just in India. Before that SIVAJI was a biggie too. Now with the kind of added popularity that the Superstar has gained ever since the release of ROBOT, his reach to pan-India audience has been extended in a major way."
Add to this the fact that the film stars Deepika Padukone as the leading lady and the biggest opening ever for a Rajinikanth starrer is guaranteed.
"Added presence of a female superstar does help and Deepika is anyways Number One heroine today," a source adds, "Even though 3 months remain for the film's release, the makers have already started the promotional campaign. It reflects the kind of strategy that they have in mind to mount the film on a huge scale."
Produced by Mediaone Global Entertainment Limited and Eros International, KOCHADAIIYAAN is directed by Soundarya Rajnikanth Ashwin and is expected to release on Rajinikanth's birthday i.e. 12th December 2013.
