WARNING leads the pack, 31 crore for PHATA POSTER NIKHLA HERO!

The major releases of the week were Veena Malik's SUPER MODEL, the Chandan Roy Sanyal starrer PRAGUE, Anubhav Sinha's WARNING 3D and the Jaideep Chopra directed MAAZII. Needles to add that with multiple releases audience had enough choice and so the collections were divided.

As expected and predicted it was Anubhav Sinha's Gurmmeet Singh directed Manjari Fadnis starrer, WARNING 3D which led the pack opening to around 20-25 percent with the higher occupancies coming from city multiplexes. There was a slight improvement in collections, more so for the 3D version. Given the very moderate budget (around 5 crore), and the 1.25-1.50 crore (to be validated) opening day, the film is sure to emerge as a profitable venture, not to forget the Fiji government subsidy.

From the remaining releases, it was Chandan Roy Sanyal's PRAGUE which managed significant collections of around 10-15 percent. The other two releases, SUPER MODEL and MAAZII were much lower, at below 5 percent.

Meanwhile last Friday's Tips Films' venture, Rajkumar Santoshi's Shahid Kapoor starrer, PHATA POSTER NIKHLA HERO, managed to hang on during the weekdays with mid-level collections and ended up netting 30-31 crore (to be validated) during the opening week, thus beating Shahid's previous best, MAUSAM, by about 3 crore.

The other release of the same week, the Irrfan-Nawazuddin starrer, THE LUNCH BOX saw a steady and consistent performance during the opening week, with the bulk of the collections coming from premium multiplexes. As per initial estimations, THE LUNCH BOX has netted around 11.5 crore during the opening week, and is already a critical and commercial success, with more to come in the coming days.
