Rekha sings at Jaya Bachchan's private birthday bash for Amitabh Bachchan
Unlike his 70th grand birthday celebration, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan preferred to have a quiet and private family get-together for his 71st birthday celebration this year. The actor, who is currently shooting for BHOOTHNATH RETURNS, a sequel to his 2008 hit BHOOTHNATH, also interacted with the media, about his future plans and how the birthday has set in for him.
A private gathering was organized by Jaya Bachchan with some close friends and relatives joining for the celebration. Filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj and his singer wife Rekha were also present at the event. While Rekha Bharadwaj sang some Sufi songs, Amitabh Bachchan himself recited some of the poetries penned down by his father Dr. Harivanshrai Bachchan.
Big B posted about the same on his micro-blogging site. He wrote, "Thank you all for the greetings in person and in the virtual. It has made my day a lot happier ..a small family get together at night has just come to an end .. sufi songs, poetry recitations and a general atmosphere of like minded people ..
The wife did it all ... the decoration the people that were invited and the music of sufi singing by Rekha Bharadwaj, poetry recitations by several friends and mine of Babuji .. a warm cozy and enjoyable night ."
Earlier in the day, the actor also announced the initiative taken up by him to provide electricity to 3000 houses through solar power, an endeavor under Harivanshrai Bachchan Memorial Trust (HBMT) in collaboration with Urja Foundation.
Well, it indeed was a special day for the Shahenshah!
