Lata Mangeshkar wants Narendra Modi as PM
This came as a big boost to the prospects of Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, making it to the Prime Minister's post in 2014 parliamentary elections. Lata Mangeshkar, the empress of playback singing in cinema, and a Bharat Ratn, wholeheartedly endorsed the prime ministerial candidate of the BJP during the inauguration of the Deenanath Mangeshkar Super-specialty Hospital in Pune. Her sister Asha Bhonsle was also present on the occasion.
She said that she prays to God for what the whole nation and she herself wants that Narendrbhai should become the Prime Minister of the country. She added, " Narendrabhai is like my brother. All of us want to see him become the Prime Minister. On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, I hope our wishes would come true."
Modi responded to it by saying that that the Mangeshkar family with their divine voices has delighted crores of people making them stress-free with music by making their minds and bodies healthy. He also said that there was need for a comprehensive policy to make healthcare affordable and the country did not merely need health insurance but health assurance.
