Sonakshi Sinha: The masala queen!

In the age of size zeroes, Sonakshi Sinha has dared to be different and celebrates her voluptuousness. Though the actress has been typecast as a masala queen, she holds an impressive track record of five box-office hits out of her seven films, with two more coming her way - BULLETT RAJA and R...RAJKUMAR. Let's run-through the kind of films she did in her three-year acting career.

Sonakshi Sinha debuted with actor Salman Khan in DABANGG (2010) and won millions of hearts with her dialogue, 'Thappad se darr nahi lagta sahab, pyaar se lagta hai' and her demure, quintessential looks.

Her next appearance on the big screen was with Bollywood's Khiladi Akshay Kumar in Prabhu Dheva's 2012 masala entertainer ROWDY RATHORE. Sonakshi was yet again impressive in her rowdy character. The film gave out a hit pair in the form of Akshay-Sonakshi.

ROWDY RATHORE was followed by JOKER opposite Akshay Kumar. Though the film was a debacle, Sonakshi's portrayal was raved about.

With OMG: OH MY GOD! Sonakshi appeared as an item girl for her dance number 'Go Go Govinda' with dance king Prabhu Dheva, her second association with him after ROWDY RATHORE.

Sonakshi's fourth appearance in 2012 was in Ajay Devgn's SON OF SARDAAR, where the actress portrayed an earthy Punjabi character.

As the year ended, Sonakshi Sinha hit the bull's eye with her desi coy girl avatar in Salman Khan's DABANGG 2, a sequel to her debut film. With this film, Ms. Sinha remained focused on masala films.

Sonakshi embarked the Year 2013 with an item song in Sajid Khan's HIMMATWALA. While the film bombed at the box-office, Sonakshi's special number was talked about.

Sona's first release of 2013 was the film LOOTERA, where for the first time the actress essayed a performance-oriented character. The film was average at the box-office, but Sonakshi managed to impress the critics and audiences, with her simple-yet-impactful role.

LOOTERA was followed by ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI DOBAARA. Though the movie failed miserably at the box-office, Sonakshi remained unfazed.

Ms. Sinha's last appearance has been in Akshay Kumar starrer BOSS, where again the actress appeared in a special song.

Sonakshi Sinha would be ending the year with two films - BULLETT RAJA opposite Saif Ali Khan and R...RAJKUMAR opposite Shahid Kapoor. While in BULLETT RAJA, Sonakshi plays a contemporary Bengali damsel, who aspires to be an actress, in R...RAJKUMAR she essays the character of an over-the-top girl-next-door.
