Yash Raj Films tricks Bhumi Pednekar into casting... herself!
Yash Raj Films has tricked a newbie. Rather, they conned a new-find into acting! Hey,YRF folks...no need to crease your brows! Clarifications are in the offing, right away....
Director Maneesh Sharma, who's fast gaining a reputation for spotting histrionic talent, has struck gold again. And that too within the chic confines of YRF itself!
Akin to Parineeti Chopra, who was hand-picked by Sharma...arrives another gal on the block, thanks to the discerning eye of Sharma.
Case in point: Ms. Bhumi Pednekar.
The YRF employee who assisted handled television casting and later became an associate in casting with Shanoo Sharma, got lucky when Sharma clapped eyes on her during an audition.
Maneesh says, "Once, when she was in the midst of an audition, through the door which was slightly open, I saw her conduct the audition. That is when I knew she can act."
The team of YRF, however, informed Bhumi that they needed her to do a mock test for other actors that lived overseas, so that a link could be sent to them lest they needed a brief!
A convinced Bhumi went right ahead... and played into their (casting) hands. Although Sharma and other YRF folks who viewed her audition were convinced that she was right for the part.
Before finalizing Bhumi, Sharma and his team did put others through the test too. Ultimately, the verdict was out... it was the YRF employee who still managed to stand head and shoulders above all competition.
And that's how... Ms. Bhumi Pednekar got YRF lucky and romped home with the part!!
