Jonita Gandhi's hat-trick with A.R. Rahman

It is a hat trick for A.R. Rahman and singer Jonita Gandhi. After roping her in for HIGHWAY, the composer repeated this internet sensation for KOCHADAIIYAAN as well. Now for LEKAR HUM DEEWANA DIL, Rahman has brought her on board again.

The song in question is 'Maloom' which carries forward the rendition that Jonita had done for Rahman earlier with 'Kahaan Hoon Main' [HIGHWAY] and then 'Dil Chaspiyan' [KOCHADAIIYAAN]. This makes her one of the few new singers in the current times on whom Rahman is putting his money. Also, with a classy treatment being meted on each of the three numbers, it is obvious that Jonita isn't involved in frivolous outings.

Not many know though that it was Vishal-Shekhar who spotted her first, and have her break with the title song of 'Chennai Express'. Since Jonita had been doing quite a few cover versions on a video sharing website, namely 'Tum Hi Ho' [AASHIQUI 2], 'Paani Da Rang' [VICKY DONOR] and 'Tujhko Jo Paaya' [CROOK], it was about time that her talent was acknowledged and the bigwigs took a notice for her.

While Shahrukh Khan was on board when Vishal-Shekhar gave Jonita an all-important title song, Imtiaz Ali, Sajid Nadiadwala and UTV backed her up too for HIGHWAY. Now with Eros rooting for her as well with KOCHADAIIYAAN and now LEKAR HUM DEEWANA DIL, one can pretty much expect Jonita to be heard a lot more in films.

Meanwhile, one waits to see how much presence does she further gain on internet now, considering the fact that this was the very platform which started it all.
