Varun Grover: Indian Ocean took 'Kanpoora' to another level

The music album of the upcoming film KATIYABAAZ was out very recently and the song 'Kanpoora' has been loved by the masses. The makers of the song feel that the song is ostensibly about Kanpur in its current situation. However, the makers also feel that the message of Kanpoora can be easily applied to any of India's smaller towns and cities.

In the making of the song, director Fahad Mustafa spoke on how they went about the song. He said, "The brief that we basically gave was that we want something that signifies this lost pride."

Added Amit Kilam in the making video, "I was in Delhi and Deeptiji called me and says that we only have one week now, we'll have to do the music in one week. This is how the story started."

The lyricist Varun Grover then threw light on how he came up with the lyrics of the song saying, "Kanpur is a very harami seher so we wanted to something really harami for the music."

'Kanpoora'. It is composed by Rahul Ram & Amit Kilam of Indian Ocean and the lyrics are penned by Varun Grover. Rahul Ram & Amit Kilam have sung the song too.

Phantom Films has joined hands with Globalistan Films to venture into the alternate content space through KATIYABAAZ which will release across India on 22nd August. The film is directed by Deepti Kakkar & Fahad Mustafa and stars Loha Singh, Ritu Maheshwari & others.
