Bollywood box-office report of the week
This Friday will see a clash between mass and class! Confused? Well it will be Sanjay Dutt's ZILA GHAZIABAD taking on UTV Spotboy's KAI PO CHE! As per the buzz ZILA GHAZIABAD is likely to impress in the massy areas of the Hindi belt (U.P. Bihar, M.P. and Rajasthan) while the Abhishek Kapoor directed KAI PO CHE! is sure to impress in Gujarat, Maharashtra and parts of South, and also at the high end multiplexes of A centers. The film has all it takes to be a surprise success in the overseas and in particular the US, thanks mainly to the Gujarati diaspora.
Last week's two major releases were Vishesh Films' next in the MURDER franchise, MURDER 3, and Tips Music Films' JAYANTABHAI KI LUV STORY. The two films were not expected to embark on a big initial; still the dull to poor start was somewhat of a shock. While the Randeep-Aditi starrer MURDER 3 netted around 11 crore during the opening weekend, Vivek-Neha's JAYANTABHAI KI LUV STORY was much lower at around 2.50 crore, during the same period. As things stand, despite the absence of 'Murder man' Emraan Hashmi, MURDER 3 will scrape through to safety, thanks to a low budget and good non-theatrical rights. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about JAYANTABHAI KI LUV STORY!
