Ghanta Awards: Cocks a snook at commercially successful films and actors of 2012

The din of various kind of award functions is slowly dying down, and it is the time for the GHANTA Awards, that is structured or inspired from Hollywood Razzles, which strives to give awards for worst performances. For the year 2012, surprisingly enough most of the films that have been bestowed with Ghanta Awards are those which otherwise have done business of more than 100 crore in 2012.

So the award for the worst film has been conferred on SON OF SARDAAR, Salman Khan has been judged the worst actor for his performance in EK THA TIGER and DABANNG 2 while Sonakshi Sinha has been conferred with the title of the worst actress for her performance in DABANNG 2, JOKER and ROWDY RATHORE. Ram Gopal Varma is the worst director for BHOOT RETURNS and DEPARTMENT, while worst song is Po Po from SON OF SARDAAR, this song incidentally was spoofed at in the Filmfare award as well, by Saif Ali Khan.

HOUSEFULL 2, which again commercially was a 100 crore film joins Ghanta Awards as being the worst sequel, while Sonam Kapoor gets worst supporting actor award for her performance in PLAYERS. The honor for worst remake goes to AGENT VINOD, and subtly even Saif Ali Khan commented about it in his anchoring performance for the Filmfare award, by informing those gathered that even his mother chided her for the climax.

The Ghanta Awards have not even left JAB TAK HAI JAAN and conferred it the WTF Award for creating a quadrangle of love story involving Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma and Jesus.

Last but not the least, the so-called sensational debut of Sunny Leone in JISM 2 has been dubbed as Worst Breakthrough of the Year.

Well, the awards are not taken seriously so far, but who knows a time could come, when it starts being taken seriously.
