London: 'Pearl Harbour' star Ben Affleck has enjoyed a prosperous showbiz career spanning three decades but he says some of his acting roles make him cringe years later.

"There are a couple of movies that I don't like and that still burn me. I take more pain out of the ones that chafe me than were successful," he said.

His latest movie 'Argo', a political drama which he co-produced, directed and starred in, has been nominated for best motion picture at the Golden Globes and is tipped for Oscar success too, Daily Express reported.

The California-born actor is married to 40-year-old Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children - daughters Violet, 6, Seraphina, 3, and 10-month-old son Samuel. He says turning 40 last August gave him a new perspective on his professional and personal life.

"I was dreading it. Does this mean I'm not young? What does this make me? But I've found this is actually the perfect age. The truth about youth and success and failure is that you just have to go live it and experience it," he said.

"If you don't, it doesn't make you a mature adult and I think you are defined by how you rise rather than how you fall," he added.
