I thought my film career was over: Cate Blanchett
London: Cate Blanchett says 'Blue Jasmine' came her way at a time when she thought her movie career was nearing its end.
The 44-year-old Canadian actress was left stunned after learning that Woody Allen wanted her to star in 'Blue Jasmine', as she was convinced her movie career was over after leaving Hollywood to concentrate on theatre in Australia, Contactmusic reported.
"It was incredibly unexpected, I've been working in the Sydney theatre with my husband for the last six years, and I thought I didn't have a film career to return to. Actress years are incredibly short, so it was a great surprise to get the call," she said.
The widely-acclaimed star has scored an Oscar nomination this year under the best actress category for her role in 'Blue Jasmine'.
The movie tells the story of a rich Manhattan socialite (played by Cate Blanchett) falling into poverty and homelessness.
The Australian star won the 2014 the Best Actress BAFTA for 'Blue Jasmine'.
