Court denies bail to Alphonsa
Passing orders on her petition on Wednesday, Principal District and Sessions Judge P Kalaiyarasan said Alphonsa's petition could not be entertained as police inquiry is pending.
Alphonsa, who is married, was living in with Vinod Kumar, an aspiring actor from Kalpakkam. Both were staying at her plush apartment, when recently Vinod was found hanging from the ceiling of their bedroom. A shocked Alphonsa consumed sleeping pills and attempted suicide, but was saved after she was rushed to a hospital nearby.
A few days later, Vinod's father met Chennai city Police Commissioner J K Tripathy and sought action against Alphonsa and two others in connection with his son's "mysterious death".
Vinod's relatives say that Alphonsa and her family murdered Vinod and are trying to make it look like suicide. In a complaint, Vinod's uncle has urged police to take action. Alphonsa swallowed some sleeping pills fearing repercussions, he reportedly said.
