Playing sari-clad south Indian was challenging: Aparnaa

Filmysouth
Chennai: Draping a south Indian sari and playing two roles from two different eras in upcoming Tamil romantic-drama 'Karuppampatti' was an uphill task for Aparnaa Bajpai, who hardly wears a sari in real life.
"I draped the sari twice before the film in my life, but never a south Indian one. It was extremely challenging to drape south Indian sari and play roles extremely opposite to each other. Since both roles are from two different eras, I had to work really hard to carry off my roles," Aparnaa told us.
She plays a village belle in the film from two different time zones - the 1980s and the present day.
"It wasn't about draping just the sari but also behaving like a south Indian village girl. For the role, I watched so many Tamil films of the 1980s to understand how women carried themselves. In the 1980s role I play a very shy, innocent and docile girl, while in the present day sequence I'm the opposite - chirpy and naughty," she said.
Aparnaa is paired opposite Ajmal Ameer and Alice Tantardini in the film, which is directed by Prabhu Raja Cholan.
Sundar K. has produced the film, which will come out soon.
Meanwhile, Aparnaa has two films lined up in Hindi - horror-mystery 'Mumbai 125 KM 3D' and Vikram Bhatt's untitled horror-thriller.
Queried does she have a liking to horror genre, she said, "I never wanted to do only horror films but they are coming my way. But, as a kid, growing up in a hostel, I used to scare my friends - I used to disguise in a bed sheet as a ghost".
