Crucial to her early career, Rihanna’s audition to Jay-Z was successful, and on the same day she signed a six-album deal with Def Jam Recordings, before relocating from Barbados to begin her career in earnest in New York.

Rihanna and Jay-Z have remained close since, the latter becoming a large influence on Rihanna’s sound and musical direction, while the pair has featured on numerous tracks together. The two are pictured here performing at the 2012 Wireless festival in London.
