Perhaps this is an answer Mani Ratnam could provide us. Why did you so unceremoniously dump Ilaiyaraaja, who made your movies a magical quality? Could you have recreated half the heart-wrenching charm of Anjali with any other musician - living or dead? Or for that matter the gripping emotional quotient of Thalapathi or Nayagan?
