Stumbling start

For all practical purposes, neither Ajith nor Vijay had a dream debut that is now almost the norm for anyone from Jayam Ravi to Karthi. They were the strugglers: While Ajith was more or less an industry outsider, Vijay had the blessings of his filmi family; he even had a hero debut thanks to his director-dad, yet that 'wow' factor that blesses today's young brigade seemed missing.
