Choice of roles

Like most naturals, Lal has been something of a drifter, content to go where destiny wills him. Memorable roles have come his way more because of filmmakers wanting to make use of the smouldering talent rather than the actor himself going out of his way to make things happen. To be fair to Lal, he could afford to go with the flow initially; when you are the first choice actor of directors like Padmarajan, Aravindan, Priyadarshan and Sibi Malayil, you don't need too much of planning, do you?
