A source informs, "Ali will be seen in Dill Mill Gaye from Monday. He plays Mac, a very charming but spoilt brat with a rugged look. The production house wanted a cool dude to play the part and hence they approached him. It's a cameo, but the producers may extend the role on viewers demand. Ali is attempting such a role for the first time and the producer's hope that he manages to earn more viewers".
When contacted, Ali Merchant refused to comment.
There was a time when the Dill Mill Gaye was quite a hit with youngsters when the hunk Karan Singh Grover and the lovely Jennifer Winget were a part of the show. But with their exit, viewers lost interest and the TRPs dropped. With no chance of this couple likely to make a comeback, the producers are now pinning their hopes on the new characters which they have been introducing slowly.
