'Chhanchhan' different from past roles: Sanaya
Mumbai: Sanaya Irani says although her character Chhanchhan in the new show of the same name, is a bit similar to her previous character of Khushi in 'Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon', the two are not identical.
"Just because Khushi was bubbly, doesn't mean Chhanchhan can't be. If there are 10 bubbly people in the world, that doesn't mean one holds a trademark. Chhanchhan is a fun girl, Khushi was goofy and crazy. Chhanchhan is just a normal, today's girl," the 29-year-old said here on Tuesday at the launch of the show.
However, she admits that in real life, she is quite close to Chhanchhan.
"Chhanchhan and Sanaya are very similar and I want to keep it real because this story is also very real, there is no over dramatisation," she said.
Meanwhile, when asked the secret behind a name such as Chhanchhan, Sanaya said: "She is named so because she has been wearing a payal (anklet) since she was a child. She loved the sound so much, that she decided to name herself Chhanchhan."
The show goes on air on Sony on March 25.
