SAB TV pays tribute to comedy in cinema

New Delhi: SAB TV pays tribute to comedy in Indian cinema -- and for this, the channel has launched its non-fiction show 'Safar Filmy Comedy Ka'. The show traces the journey of comedy through 100 years of cinema.
Each episode of the show will showcase one trend of comedy including physical, action, slapstick, cult comedy, and mistaken identity and will feature actors like Juhi Chawla, Prem Chopra, Divya Dutta, Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra and Asrani sharing their cinematic experience with the audience.
'Safar Filmy Comedy Ka' will be hosted by actor Sunil Grover and Muskaan Mihani.
"It is an honour to be working alongside industry legends, actors who have redefined comedy over the years. I have always admired and looked up to them, their contribution to films is phenomenal. I have learnt so much from them and I feel honoured that I get to relive their magical moments with them," Sunil, who's well known for his mimicry and stand-up comedy, said in statement.
Being produced by Dheeraj Kumar and Zuby Kochhar of Creative Eye Limited, 'Safar Filmy Comedy Ka' will go on air on January 27.
"The style, content and pace of Indian movies has advanced vastly over the years and so has the way in which the film industry treats comedy. Comedy as a genre has evolved so much so that comedy-centric movies are turning out to be block-busters," Anooj Kapoor, EVP and business head, SAB TV said.
"'Safar Filmy Comedy Ka' is a tribute to the contribution of comedians and industry veterans to the genre of comedy. It will offer differentiated content to its viewers and a great family viewing experience," he added.
