Ratan's tips to make children eat healthy food
As a parent it is important that we take care of the eating habits of our children and ensure their proper growth. I have been trying various tricks so that Ranvijay and Veera eat healthy food.
Firstly, avoid placing restrictions on the food, since it increases the risk of developing eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia. Rather then banning foods, you should talk to your children about healthy nutritional options and encourage them to select fruits, whole grains, vegetables and low-fat dairy foods.
You should always keep healthy food at hand, as most of the times children eat what is easily available. Try keeping fruits on the counter so that they are in within your child's reach.
You should praise your children, when they opt for healthy food like fruits and vegetables over junk food. Also, make sure that you don't nag when they choose fried, fatty and unhealthy food.
Finally, never use food for rewarding your children. It may give them the wrong signals. You can reward the child by taking them to a picnic or a point system.
